The Artist

b. Bayport, Long Island, NY in 2003

Growing up on Long Island, Haley was captivated by the ecosystems in their backyard often spending time outside just sitting and observing. Place, landscape, and story-telling are central to their studio practice as they co-create visual narratives through the process of mark-making with materials like wood and paper. Materials that involve more time-intensive and physical construction form a deep connection with the artist as their human experience is paralleled by environmental processes. Haley’s work asks viewers to reflect on their environmental histories to discover their own parallels and ignite advocacy for protection, gratitude, and respect for all beings. This past May, they graduated from Mount Holyoke College with a degree in Art Studio and Environmental Studies with Magna Cum Laude Honors. Looking towards the future, Haley plans to further explore their identities as an artist, environmentalist, and community builder by getting their MFA.
